The Mountain Walk

Today, we woke up to snow covered mountains, so all groups set off to climb one!

Groups A and C climbed Moel Yr Hydd and group B climbed Foel Penolau. We had to wear lots of layers as the forecast was for snow all day.

Climbing mountains is very challenging especially as we had no easy path to follow and to make things even more difficult, we had to climb through about ten inches of snow in places.

Everyone tried their best, showing real determination.

Group C were the only group today who actually managed to get to the top – hooray!! The other groups made it about two thirds of the way up because some of the children were starting to get very cold. They did manage to see some spectacular views from the points that they reached.

Group C pushed on up the mountain despite the brutal wind and driving sleet. When they reached the top they could hardly stand up because the wind was so strong. After a quick photo they made their descent back down the mountain – often sliding on their bottoms!

We all got back to the centre safely, where we were rewarded with a lovely roast dinner and pancakes!
