Bumped Head Procedure

During the school day, minor bumps to the head can occur, especially during play time or PE sessions.

We send a text to first contacts when a child receives a head bump, even if, in the majority of cases, it is minor. The text includes a link to this page so that you can check for any signs of possible concussion:

If your child experiences any of the following symptoms during the next 72 hours (3 days), please take them to the doctor or minor injuries unit to be checked:

  • Nausea / Vomiting
  • Severe Headache
  • Drowsiness for longer than 1 hour, or difficulty waking them up
  • Dizziness / loss of balance or co-ordination
  • Visual disturbance
  • Fainting / fits
  • Fluid / fresh blood coming from ear or nose
