At The Winchcombe School, we teach science by following nine Big Ideas from the Cornerstones Curriculum; Investigation, Creativity, Place, Nature, Humankind, Materials, Comparison, Processes and Change. Through our science curriculum we provide children with engaging and practical lessons that build on the children’s prior knowledge and develop their working scientifically skills.
The ‘Big Ideas’ Investigation and Creativity are embedded through every science lesson. Allowing children, the opportunity to question, measure investigate, observe, report and conclude and gather and record data. Through Investigation and Creativity, the children will continue to build on their working scientifically skills.
Through the ‘Big Ideas’ Place, Nature, Human Kind, Materials, Comparison, Processes and Change is where children will build on their scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding.
